Featured Entrepreneur - Florist, LeeLina Martin

Happy International Women’s Day! I wanted to featured my next female entrepreneur on this day because she was a big part of last year’s IWD event that I hosted for a small group of local female entrepreneurs and especially because she has been one of my go to girls for installations. I’d like to introduce to you florist, LeeLina Martin! If you missed our IG live interview with her, read more about her business and her women empowerment message below. Also, check out the installation she helped design from our IWD event last year at the end of this post.

Briefly introduce yourself

I am LeeLina Martin and I’m a florist.

How were you introduced to Inessa Nichols Design?

First I was introduced to Inessa the designer. A handful of years later I was introduced to Inessa, the successful business owner of Inessa Nichols Design. It’s been beautiful to watch her grow.

How did you start your business?

I started my business out of a desire to arrange flowers in my unique style instead of trying to do them in someone else’s style.

What drives your business, why do you love what you do?

Because of Covid the reasons I do business have started to evolve and change. There are still good things, good foundations that I’ve keep with me but I’ve been able to shed a lot that is not important, not useful or sustainable. I’m still finding my way, and I hope I never stop learning.

I love what I do because it connects me to other people. Flowers are present at most life-changing moments and I’m able to share in those big moments with people. Share in professions of love, lifelong commitments, happiness, in grief, in apologies, in new life. It’s incredible to be able to express feelings through flowers.

What is your women empowerment message to fellow and aspiring female entrepreneurs?

Be kind. To others and to yourself. Slow down. Read poetry. Be swept away by beauty.
